OUR DOCG WINES

Tenuta di Artimino claims two precious Tuscan Docg wines. The Carmignano Docg, a historical wine loved by the Medici family, is produced in small quantities and distinguished by the presence of Cabernet in the blend and is highly valued throughout the world. The Chianti Docg is a wider and without a doubt a better known denomination, synonymous everywhere with Tuscany and excellence

OUR DOC WINES

The Barco Reale Doc gets its name from the grand hunting reserve created by the Medici for their own personal hunting activities. The reserve was surrounded by the Barco Reale wall which enclosed an area of about 4000 hectares; worth noting is that some parts of the wall are still visible today. These red and rosè Doc wines are characteristic territorial wines, pleasant and smooth, thus representing an easy-to-drink alternative to the more important Carmignano.

It was in 1935 when at the Vigorelli cycle track Giuseppe Olmo won the Hour Record for track cycling . Upon the eightieth anniversary the Olmo family and the Olmo Group (of which Artimino is part of) wished to commemorate Gepin – as this great racer was affectionately called – with a Grumarello magnum, limited edition. It was he who bought the Estate in the ’80s, moved by the farsighted awareness that nobody would ever be able to take away the beauty of the area.

1716 - 2016

In 2016 the Tenuta di Artimino, and generally throughout Tuscany, celebrated the 300 years since the Edict of Cosimo III de ‘Medici, a kind of discipline ahead of time that in the eighteenth century had already sanctioned the importance of Carmignano wines. For this occasion 1716 numbered bottles were produced, with canvas labels designed by the internationally renowned artist Wessel Huisman. The first ten bottles were auctioned and the proceeds were donated to charity in September 2016.
